Mmmm, Mmmm, Mmmm...”

“The first time that I saw Jazzberry Jam! I fell in love with them musically.
They have great musicianship, style, class and a show that is full of fun.”

JAZZBERRY JAM! is a dynamic group whose spectacular ability to communicate with each other produces the best in musical improvisation, and informs the audience of their humor and humanity. This unique quality allows Jazzberry Jam! to introduce their special blend of sound to audiences all over the world.

Associates since 1975, BERTHA HOPE (piano), KIM CLARKE (bass), “SWEET” SUE TERRY (sax) and PAULA HAMPTON (drums) have worked together in a variety of venues either as the house trio or as the nucleus of a larger group. The trio, upon request, will enhance the flavor of the group with the addition of a vocalist and/or an instrumentalist. The uniqueness of the group is enhanced by the addition of male vocalist, ULYSSES SLAUGHTER.

Their debut performance was at Gracie Mansion, home of the Mayor of New York City, for The Coalition of 100 Black Women. They have also graced the stages of Harlem’s famed Schomburg Library for Women’s History Month; The Brooklyn Academy of Music; The Brooklyn Museum; Washington, D.C.’s Kennedy Center at the Mary Lou Williams Jazz Festival, The Savannah Jazz Festival in Savannah, GA, and most recently at The Renaissance Jazz Festival in Indianapolis, Indiana.

In 1998, at the invitation of the legendary trumpet virtuoso, the late Nat Adderley, the group performed at Florida Southern College’s annual Child of the Sun Festival. Their first CD, Jazzberry Jam! Live is a result of this engagement.

In 1999 they were featured in a documentary entitled “Les Femmes du Jazz” for the French Arts Channel. Written and directed by Gilles Corre, this film received the award for Best Documentary at France’s Bairritz Film Festival. In early spring of 2002, these ladies performed at Marians Jazzroom in Bern, Switzerland.

This classy group is the embodiment of grace, quality and charm, an unforgettable experience you will want to repeat sooner than you think!
